Nation-Leading Child Internet Safety Laws

In 2024, Pythia led a campaign supporting landmark legislation to protect children and teens on social media from addictive algorithms and exploitative data collection. Despite a major opposition campaign backed by Big Tech, both bills passed the New York State legislature with overwhelming bi-partisan support and were signed into law just a few weeks after session concluded. These laws limit children’s exposure to some of social media’s most harmful tools that purposely keep them glued to their screens. With several states introducing similar legislation, New York’s protections could soon become the national model.
